The plot of the new mini-series was based on the novel of the same name by Ian McGuire. Returning from India, a military surgeon gets a job as a ship ‘s doctor on a whaling ship. Patrick Sumner clearly has secrets from the past, but there are darker personalities on board as well. For example, harpooner Henry Drax, whose immorality and cruelty betray him as a real psychopath. And when the maimed body of the cabin boy is found on the deck, the ship with a motley crew is already on the high seas.

In Search of Captain Grant (1985)
