Soul Surfer (2011)

This motivational biopic is based on the real-life achievements of a strong-willed girl in sports. The picture is dedicated to professional surfer Bethany Hamilton. From childhood, the heroine spent all her free time on the surf and strove to reach sports heights.

Once a misfortune happened to a girl – as a result of an attack by a tiger shark, she almost died and was left without her left arm. After leaving the hospital, Bethany was determined to return to surfing. Thanks to the strong will and character of a fighter, the heroine overcame her fear and again began to participate in competitions, catching a wave on her favorite surf.

Every Sunday (1999)

This motivational film is about the Miami Sharks American football team. Until recently, she was at the top of the standings. But something went wrong in the well-established mechanism, and the guys lost three games in a row. Head coach Tony D’Amato is frantically looking for the reasons for the failures.

One of them is in the mediocre new manager Christina. The second is the unhealthy ambitions of young quarterback Willie Beeman. He showed himself well on the field a couple of times in the first team and decided that he “caught God by the beard.” Having become ill with star disease, Beeman becomes a source of discord in the team. Can the coach overcome all difficulties?

Sharp Turns (1993)

In our top list of motivational films about sports, a funny comedy about four Jamaican guys occupies a worthy place. The guys really want to achieve the right to compete at the Olympics. In this case, the sport does not matter, the main thing is participation. The choice fell on a non-traditional Jamaican bobsleigh, which in this sunny country is known only from TV shows.

But nothing can stop motivated young people on the way to their dreams. The film is partly based on real events and focuses on the debut of the Jamaican team in the bobsleigh competition at the 1988 Olympics.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

A motivational film about sports and the cherished desire of every coach to raise a champion. Frank Dunn fails to achieve this despite his best efforts. His career as a boxing coach is coming to an end, and the best of the fighters is leaving for another manager.

During this difficult period, 31-year-old Maggie comes to Frank’s section, but he refuses to work with her, because “he does not train girls.” However, the stubborn girl shows so much effort that Dunn changes his mind. Soon, Maggie, under the guidance of Frank, achieves impressive results.

Semi-biographical film-motivation to go in for sports tells about an ordinary guy who performed at the Olympic Games. Since childhood, the guy has dreamed of getting to the Olympics as a participant, but none of the sports submits to him.

Desperate and disillusioned, Eddie takes over the family’s plastering business. One day, he again lights up with a dream and decides to try his hand at winter sports, namely ski jumping. This time, nothing can stop the future Olympian.

Coach (2018)

A domestic motivational film about sports will also be told by the captain of the Russian national football team . Yuri Stoleshnikov, a few minutes before the end of the responsible match with Romania, does not score a penalty. Frustrated by the failure, he takes out his anger on the referee and the fans, after which he receives a red card and leaves the field.

A fatal mistake cost Stoleshnikov his career as a player, and the hero accepts an offer to become a coach of a provincial football club. Faced with a lack of discipline among the players, Yuri is forced to act tough. The results are not long in coming.

Japplou (2013)

A French-Canadian motivational sports film based on a true story. The heroes of this drama are the young lawyer Pierre Durand and his obstinate horse Japplou. Pierre trained from a young age, but eventually abandoned equestrianism and became a successful lawyer.

One day, the hero decides to resume his studies and succeed with his horse Japplou. To do this, Duran quits advocacy and begins to train hard. But Japplou turns out to be a horse with character, and in order to succeed, the rider will have to understand that the animal is his friend and partner.

The Man Who Changed Everything (2011)

This biographical motivational film about sports is based on the book by Michael Lewis. It is dedicated to the Oakland baseball team and its manager Billy Bean. After the 2001 season playoff loss to the New York Yankees, the Oakland Athletics’ financial support was severely cut. Many top players were poached by other clubs.

Bean has to use non-standard methods to recreate a competitive team. Fans, the press and even coaches are against Billy, but his determination and perseverance ultimately ensure the team’s success.

Tour de Chance (2013)

Rounding out the list of motivational films about sports is a French comedy about former cyclist François Noël. At one time, he gave up sports and became an ordinary clerk. One day, problems in the family and at work simultaneously pile on him.

Then François decides to fulfill his childhood dream and ride the famous Tour de France one day before it is passed by professionals. The experiment of the hero passing stage after stage is gaining more and more popularity. He is filmed by television, newspapers write about him, and his beloved wife meets him at the finish line.
