According to the plot, due to the severe drought, the next generation is no longer destined to exist on Earth. A team of researchers is sent to study other planets in order to find the one on which humanity will move. Of course, this story shocks with unexpected scenario moves, but there are a lot of films like Interstellar. Let’s take a look at the ten most similar ones.

Moon 2112 (2009)

2035 year. Sam Bell’s contract is ending, after which he will leave the moon and return home. A few days before the end of the mission, the guy gets into an accident. Soon he comes across an astronaut who looks exactly like himself. The doppelgänger declares that he is Sam Bell.

In many ways, this film is reminiscent of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”: events unfold in the near future far from Earth, and the leading characters have a fantastic opportunity to see themselves from the outside.

Martian (2015)

Now Mark will have to rely on the fact that he will be taken away after a few months, and until that day he is looking for a way to survive in unusual conditions.

As in Interstellar, the protagonist is forced to stay away from Earth, not knowing if he will be able to escape, and along the way making important scientific discoveries.

The main similarity of this project to Interstellar is that both stories assume the survival of a limited number of people, there is a long time delay before a global catastrophe, and the problem can only be solved in space. In addition, the main characters have a penchant for self-sacrifice.

In both films, the central characters are in space, hoping to save earthlings from a terrible death. Each of them has a reverent connection with their daughter, which has a great influence on their choice. They also have to decide whether they are ready to risk themselves for the sake of humanity.

In the famous film by Steven Spielberg, as in the creation of Nolan, the space theme is a red line. It also establishes contact with an unknown civilization, and there are similar “games” over time.

Firstly, the picture is already similar in that Matthew McConaughey is also present in it. Secondly, the heroine also receives signals from unknown people and passes through the wormhole. The plot is replete with scientific terminology and mystery.

By the way, for more inspiration, Nolan’s film crew even watched this film on the big screen before starting work.

2001 Space Odyssey (1968)

In the list of films like Interstellar, Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 A Space Odyssey is worth noting as a separate item. According to Nolan, it was this cult hit that inspired him while working on his picture. Therefore, it is not surprising that the film turned out to be similar.

According to the plot, the crew of the spaceship, Captains Bowman, Poole and HAL-9000 (on-board computer), explore a certain region of the galaxy, trying to determine why aliens are watching earthlings.

The similarity of these two films is obvious, and events at some point unfold similarly. The characters are conducting research in space and suspect that an extraterrestrial civilization is following them. There is artificial intelligence on board and at the same time the whole team is faced with inexplicable incidents.
