The film based on the book of the same name by James Dashner easily won the hearts of fans, telling a fascinating story about a mysterious labyrinth, amnesiac teenagers and scary creatures – Grievers.

The viewer, along with the main character Thomas, finds himself in a maze where other boys have already created a kind of settlement led by Alfie. However, Thomas does not smile at the prospect of sitting still and, along with other runners, decides to find a way out.

The Hunger Games (2012)

The story tells about the near future, where the world is divided into 12 districts under the control of Panem. Despite the fact that the main character is a girl, both films are similar in mood, presentation and main idea – a rebel against the system. Initially, Katniss does not seem to be the one who is ready to start a revolution, but she, like Thomas, unconsciously attracts people to her, and the actions of both heroes hurt everyone and everyone.

Fantastic adventure based on the book of the same name. The protagonist of the film is the alien John Smith, sent to Earth in order to escape from hostile invaders. There are nine like him, and when the previous one dies, the next one gets a burn on his leg. John is next on the list of enemies. Trying to hide from his pursuers, he and his guardian move to a small town in western Ohio.

Like The Maze Runner, this film is solid teen fiction with likable characters, slick action, and great music.

Lord of the Flies (1963)

In an interview, Wes Ball himself mentioned that “The Maze Runner” is about how the lord of the flies meets the lost (maze boys). In the center of the plot is a group of schoolchildren who almost die in a plane crash. Once on the island, they have to find ways to survive. Initially, they unite under the leadership of one of the boys, but soon a split occurs in the group. Lord of the Flies is a classic that has a lot of similarities with The Maze Runner. For example, tense and poignant relationships between boys who are forced by circumstances to grow up.

However, among them there is a “black sheep” – Lucius Hunt, who wants to leave Covington.

The film is similar to “Runner” by the village itself, which can be compared to the labyrinth. The only difference is that the first is surrounded by forest, and the second – by walls. In addition, in both films, the heroes are forbidden to leave these places, as dangerous creatures live outside them.
