10 Movies Similar to Truth or Dare

Surely, many were impressed by the story about a group of teenagers who went on vacation to Mexico and faced a deadly curse there.

According to the plot, Olivia and her friends spend the weekend in an unfamiliar city, and there the girl starts a conversation with an attractive guy. A new acquaintance invites the company to play a popular game, and this provokes dire consequences. If you, too, were excited by the horror of Jeff Wadlow, then pay attention to the list of films similar to Truth or Dare.

Ouija: Devil’s Board (2014)

Elaine, along with a classmate, often had fun allegedly “communicating” with the spirits. The heroines grew up, and less and less often returned to this fun. One day, Elaine’s friend dies, and she realizes that it looks like she broke the basic rule by using the Ouija board alone. Wanting to confirm her guesses, the girl invites a group of friends and together they call the spirit of the deceased schoolgirl.

There are several points on which these horrors are similar: the whole story begins with a famous youth game, a certain girl is in the center of events, and several friends get involved in nightmarish troubles at once.

Open Graves (2009)

The protagonist, while traveling with friends, visits a small antique shop, where he gets a very remarkable board game for free. The guys decide to play a few games. Subsequently, it becomes clear that some kind of terrible story is connected with this game.

Movies like Truth or Dare usually start off with some harmless entertainment, and this movie is no exception. Here, in a similar way, a group of young people will gather on vacation who want to have fun, and unwittingly find themselves in a frightening situation.

At certain moments, this film is undoubtedly reminiscent of the horror movie Truth or Dare. Six friends decide to Skype after school. An unknown user under the nickname Billy227 connects to them. An anonymous interlocutor begins to write frightening messages. Classmates think that they can simply leave the chat at any time, but it seems that this is not the case.

There is a clear analogy in both stories: at the center of the action is a group of teenagers who unwittingly become victims of an unknown evil and cannot influence the situation. At the same time, unsightly secrets of the company are revealed.

Destination (2000)

Speaking of films similar to 2018’s Truth or Dare, one cannot help but think of this cult horror movie. In his visions, Alex watches as the plane on which he and his classmates are supposed to go on an excursion explodes. He refuses to fly to Paris and his panic leaves a few more people behind. The airliner does explode, but this does not mean that miraculously surviving passengers are now safe.

Like the Jeff Wadlow movie, this is about unseen doom that haunts friends and leads to unexpected and ridiculous deaths. The main characters of both films are looking for a way to deceive an unknown curse in order to avoid death.

The tasks become more difficult and dangerous, and Vee realizes with horror that it is no longer possible to simply leave the game.

The plots of both horror films are quite similar. Events revolve around a person who agrees to play a popular game, but later finds out that it can be very costly for herself and other players. In order not to die, the heroes have to adhere to strict rules.

Cabin in the woods (2011)

Kurt invites a few friends to go on a weekend in the woods to his cousin’s cabin. At first, the guys have a great time, until an unimaginable nightmare begins to happen in the district. Soon the first victims appear.

In many ways, this horror film is similar to “Truth or Dare”: without any bad premonitions, a cheerful company plans to have a good rest away from home, in an unfamiliar place. Misfortunes begin from the moment when the characters decide to have fun: in one case it was a game, and in the second – a collective reading of an unknown book. The first frightening situations happen at night, in an abandoned place.

A group of teenagers became addicted to the role-playing video game Lost. They play out eerie scenes from the life of a mysterious lady from the 17th century, nicknamed the Bloody Countess. It soon becomes clear that the guys have chosen a deadly hobby.

From the description of the plot, it is clear that horror films have many similar moments: having shown interest in a certain game, a group of friends involuntarily incurs an unknown evil that is ready to exterminate them one by one. Also, one of the characters will have to find a way to interrupt the terrible chain of deaths.

What Would You Do (2012)

This picture can be attributed to the number of horrors like the movie “Truth or Dare”. Young Iris gets to a dinner party in the company of seven more guests. It soon turns out that the heroes have fallen into a trap: they are invited to play a very sadistic game, the loss of which leads to fatal consequences.

The main similarity is that the events revolve around a company of heroes connected by one problem. For the sake of survival, they will have to perform absurd tasks and frankly answer sensitive questions. Refusal to play or non-compliance with the rules threatens instant death.

At certain points, the horror movie is clearly similar to the movie Truth or Dare. Five students are having fun at the prom. In the midst of the holiday, they, like the heroes of the aforementioned horror, decide to play the game “truth or dare”.

As in the first case, this did not lead to anything good. Shortly after the entertainment, one of the friends dies, and there is no doubt that the others are also in danger.

If you are interested in films like Truth or Dare, then you should pay attention to this project. The story begins in a similar way: five friends plan an unforgettable vacation. They go to nature, where they set up a student camp.

As in Jeff Wadlow’s horror, the vacation turns into a nightmare, and now young people have to perform blood-curdling tasks imposed by a maniac who calls himself Simon.
