The Boys series, which launched in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video, enjoyed great views and showed viewers a new vision of the familiar superhero movie. The project was directed by Eric Kripke, and the main comic strip for him was the comic strip of the same name by Garth Ennis.
The action takes place in a world where there are superheroes who are busy protecting the state and ordinary people. However, in fact, the “super” themselves break the rules, using superpowers, which leads to the decision of a group of ordinary people to take revenge on the offenders. The show is gearing up for season 3, but to surprise fans, lead actor Karl Urban unveiled a teaser and news of an 8-episode animated series planned as a spin-off. The plot of the project is not disclosed and it is not known whether the audience will see their favorite characters in it, but the authors shared information that the show will tell about individual stories from the Boys’ universe. It is possible that these will be short adventures of famous characters, but it is highly likely that new heroes will be shown in it. The series release date will be in 2022. Eric Kripke, who authored the original project, said that from the start of work on the show, he and his colleagues wanted to do something in the spirit of the infamous anime Animatrix based on the Wachowski sisters’ Matrix universe.

The original story stars Karl Urban and Jack Quaid. In the story, a timid guy Hugh, who has just lost his girlfriend because of a superhero, agrees to the offer of former operative Billy Butcher to take revenge on the “super”. The man lost his wife because of them and hates all their activities, and as the plot develops, the audience, along with the heroes, will learn that the abilities of superheroes are artificial and were deduced by a group of interested businessmen. From ordinary defenders, they gradually become a threat to statehood, which forces Billy and Hugh to declare vendetta to them. In the animation novelty, they can tell the backstories of the characters or touch on new characters. The Boys: Diabolical will get a release date in 2022.
Among the directors of the project, along with Eric Kripke, are Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Comedian Andy Samberg and Rick and Morty writer Justin Royland will join their tandem for the animation show. The cartoon will be released in 2022. Viewers will have 8 episodes.
