The Good Doctor is the story of a 25-year-old doctor named Sean Murphy. The guy suffers from autism and is diagnosed with Savant syndrome. It often imposes a difficulty in communicating with the people around him, which is what happened to Sean. This fact did not prevent him from graduating with honors from his hometown medical university and entering the surgical department at a prestigious hospital in San Jose. The guy is laughed at, and experienced colleagues are skeptical because in addition to his youth is also sick. But the young man performs brilliant surgeries, which causes other doctors to reconsider the guy. Similarly, the situation changes with the attitude of his patients, who at first refuse to operate under his scalpel, fearing for their life. The Good Doctor is one of the rare medical series that has touched on and honestly shown the topic of covid. While other projects did not touch on the pandemic, believing that viewers were already frightened, the writers of The Good Doctor did the opposite, arguing that a true story would make people take the disease more seriously and, at the same time, explain that taking timely action guarantees a safe recovery. Lead actor David Shore said that in order to properly play a person with autism, he observed real patients. This is not the guy’s first experience playing people with abnormalities, previously he could be seen as the psychopath from the Bates Motel series, which was a freestyle sequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.
