The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey – when is release date?

In 2020, it became known that the Apple TV service has planned another film adaptation of the popular American work The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray. The author of the novel is Walter Mosley, a writer with a serious track record and many prestigious awards for his contributions to literature. The author of the book has agreed to adapt it into a screenplay, with actor Samuel D. Jackson as the producer and lead actor. In 2021, young actress Dominique Fishback joined the cast. In January 2022, the Apple TV service released a trailer, from which it was revealed that the release date for the series The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray will be March 11, 2022. Two episodes will be released on release day.

The plot of the series revolves around a 91-year-old man. The man has dementia and lives in imaginary worlds inside his head. One day he is asked to look after his granddaughter, and the girl helps the hero come back from oblivion and remember significant events from his own life. Among them are memories of the death of his nephew. The boy died under mysterious circumstances, but there was no serious investigation and the truth turned out to be of no use to anyone. Investigators quickly closed the case, but now Ptolemy Gray decides to pursue justice and begins to dig into history anew. The show’s release date is March 11, 2022.

The new series from Apple TV is announced as a mini-project. It has 6 episodes and the story will not continue. The hero along with his granddaughter will go on a quest and despite his serious illness, Ptolomei manages to get the truth about his relative’s death. Interestingly, Walter Mosley himself is a white writer, but most of his works are about the black population, and the main roles in the films based on his books were played by black stars – Denzel Washington and Laurence Fishburne.
