The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – when is the release date?

Amazon, the new owner of the film rights to John Tolkien’s novels, has announced the release date of the Lord of the Rings series Rings of Power, which is scheduled for September 2, 2022. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power television series is to be a multi-season project with a budget that can only be compared to the legendary Game of Thrones saga.

The television adaptation will include new storylines that predate the first “Fellowship of the Ring” book. Netflix, HBO, and Amazon competed for global rights to make the multi-season series, but only the latter company was willing to shell out $250 million.

Amazon Prime Studios has already announced the release date for Episode 1 of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. The first series will premiere on September 2, 2022.

The events are so boring that Tolkien didn’t bother with them on paper. Even if Amazon spared no expense and could create a meaningful story from this, there is no guarantee it would turn out well. Game of Thrones went horribly off the rails as soon as it let the books go and followed a different script. And don’t forget the completely unnecessary third Hobbit movie, which stretched three pages of the novel into a movie about two and a half hours long.

Realistically, the best thing a studio can do is not disappoint people. The worst thing it can do is get rid of the franchise for good. That seems like too much of a gamble, especially for a company that makes most of its money delivering cat food.
